The JaJa's

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  Do you know what that is for me?  Right NOW!

There are no greater teachers in the world for me in enjoying the gift of the present moment, than children -- especially my daughter, Faith.

A couple months ago, I took Faith on her very first backpacking trip.  Jeanne and I went with a group of girlfriends (Yes, our beloved YaYa's!) and their kids.  For them it's like getting together with their cousins - they love it! And as for us YaYa's, well that's a story for another time. ; )

So there I am, sitting on a rock in the middle of the creek, with Faith (6yrs), Reyes (7yrs), and Maia (4 yrs).  We're just sitting there, watching the water go by in the warm October sun.  The kids are taking turns tossing rocks in the creek.

I turn to Faith, and asked, "So what's been your favorite part of the trip so far?"

"Right now," she said.  

Of course I get all choked up and mommy-ish as I join her in embracing that moment.  "How about you, Reyes?"

"Right now," he said.

"Right now," Maia said.

So today, I'm going to follow the example of my greatest teachers.  In this moment, I'm creating the possiblity of being happy and fulfilled like a child.  And my commitment is that in all I do today, I will try to look at the task at hand with curiosity and wonder, happiness and fulfillment, Just Like a Child.
