The JaJa's Bio - How we met, and where the music comes from...

Meet Jeanne MacLaughlin, and me, Barb Horton.  We met 15 years ago, at a class in the middle of corporate America in Scottsdale, Arizona when I took a seat next to her.  By noon we discovered:

  • We’re both professional singers
  • Both have a background in theatre
  • Our mothers were born 1 day apart in 1936
  • We both grew up on a street named “Dewey”. (Jeanne grew up in Wisconsin, and myself in New Jersey)
  • We’d both been praying for a friend
  • And the list goes on.
Through some incredible syncronicities we met our extraordinary band: John Chapman on upright bass, Jason Fay on drums, Brian Palmerino on guitar, and Jimmy Boyd on piano. We show up with chorded lyric sheet, and this incredible band breathes life and style into the music. We are so blessed by their incredible talent.

What we do

The JaJa's sing around the valley most Sundays at New Thought churches. We have produced 2 CD’s of New Thought Music, much of it inspired by the lessons of the ministers and congregations we serve.  If we don't already know or can't find the perfect song for the lesson of the week, we have a habit of writing a song for the minister that helps musically anchor the lesson of the week.  We are currently working on our third CD, called "The JaJa's and Friends".  We've also written songs and performed at conferences for special causes, such as the song, "Live for Me" for the MISS Foundation,

Most recently, we've just completed writing the score for a New Thought Musical called "You Can Be A Star" which debut’s March 18-20th at Unity Church of Mesa.
